The creative force behind Fluit is Archirivolto Design, a studio founded in 1983 by Marco Pocci and Claudio Dondoli in the heart of Tuscany. Archirivolto specialises in designing seating that adapts to various environments, from workspaces to communal areas. Their designs are known for being both practical and forward-thinking, with a particular focus on smart use of plastic.

In designing Fluit for spanish brand Actiu, Archirivolto pushed the boundaries of material innovation. The chair is made entirely from recycled fibreglass and polypropylene plastic, sourced from discarded fruit crates in what's known as the "vegetable garden of Europe", Andalusia. These materials are sourced close to Actiu’s headquarters, fulfilling their Km 0 production philosophy, which prioritises using locally recovered materials to minimise environmental impact. This thoughtful use of materials is a hallmark of Archirivolto’s approach, where sustainability is not an afterthought but a driving force behind their work.

Fluit is more than just a chair; it reflects the consolidation of Actiu’s sustainability policies. The chair’s construction involves a unique gas injection process that strengthens the material, making Fluit both lightweight and remarkably stable. This technique results in a design that is harmonious and robust, suitable for a variety of settings, indoors and outdoors.

With its UVI protection and the ability to stack up to 20 units high, Fluit is as practical as it is versatile. The chair was awarded the iF Design Award, the German Design Award, and was a finalist in the Archiproducts Design Awards, recognitions that underscore the chair’s excellence in both form and function.
